I have a few questions. 1) Is there a way I can run some test sign ups to see how the whole thing works? I would like to do some site integration but will need to post some test (fake) sign ups. 2) On the sign up form there are two requests, "Would you like to receive EMAIL notices of other print or online publications, and other relevant offers from TradePub.com? AND "Sign up for special offer alerts from select partners featuring the latest products and services you are interested in." ... do you track all referrals for these mail-outs and promotions? If not, is there an option to remove these requests? I would like to build my own mail-out list and get the full benefit of my sign ups. 3) Are the "Related FREE Offers from TradePub.com" sign ups considered separate from the initial subscription and rewarded or is it considered "one" sign up? 4) Would it be possible to use a cname (eg. pubs.mydomain.com) or a dedicated url instead of the tradepub.com cname (ABC.tradepub.com)? 5) Other than the "$$$" in the offer catalog can you provide exact amount paid per valid sign up? Also, can you include this in the xml and csv feeds? That's all for now! Thank you.

Here are our answers:
1. What is the intent of the tests? If its simply to see how the system works, please find a magazine related to your profession that you can subscribe to. Perhaps Website Magazine is a good fit? If not, please let me know more about your specific needs and I’ll respond accordingly.

2. We do not payout based on who opts-in to our lists. We certainly understand your perspective and perhaps our position will change in the future. With that being said, we also cannot remove that section from our form... it’s integral to the viability to our model. This works in the same capacity as every other established affiliate program from Amazon on down. Subscribers have the opportunity to receive email alerts from us in the future making available other titles related to their needs. It's not to say that we don’t see your point; it's simply the economic course we have opted to pursue. We specifically set down the path to aggressively reward our partners for the leads that they generate up front.

3. The "Related FREE Offers" are considered co-registration offers. If a visitor to your site, fills out a qualification form and selects any of the additional offers listed at the bottom of the form, you have now will earn a share of the revenue generated from those actions as well. You can see this in action in the "report by time period" in the eEPF column.

4. We set up your domain name for your partner page based on your own web site address. We cannot create these domains with any URL you request. It has to be created with the name of your domain. If you own additional domains with names you would like to be turned into TradePub sites, we're happy to do that as well. If you decide to do a dedicated URL on your end, you can utilize an iFrame to input our content.

5. We do not disclose the actual payouts per offer. We encourage all of our partners to promote based on relevance of an offer to their audience and not based on payout.

Please let me know if you have other questions or need clarification.

Hi Karen,

Thank you for the reply.

Regarding #1 ... I would like to post the subscription data using PHP curl. I'm not sure if you understand how that works, but it is relatively simple and completely compatible with your setup. I'll just need to post a some test subs to ensure everything works fine. The reason for using curl is that I can build my own user list and log every subscription. Getting subscribers to one's site is hard and it only makes sense to maintain that relationship. I think you would agree.

Regarding #2 ... payout based on who opts-in to our lists. It would be easy to implement using a list server like Lyris ... tag the links with the partner ID ... and better still ... send emails out under the partner's BRAND! :-)

Regarding #4 ... dedicated domain name or custom cname. This is a feature you can easily implement with just a little code or using a .htaccess file. We (your partners) would just point our domain to your IP address (209.133.56.111 [tradepub.com]) and based on the $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] redirect the visitor to http://ezinexchange.tradepub.com/ or in the case of other partners, http://PARTNER.tradepub.com/. Why do this? Simple ... build traffic to our own domain and perhaps get some "link juice" ... and maybe stand-out from the other 38,000 partners.

Thank you.

Just my two cents. You are treading a quite dangerous ethical and practical line here regarding business practices (if I'm understanding you). If I subscribe to something from Adobe, I do not expect to be placed on YOUR mailing list.

If you did that without warning, you'd be in the "slimeball" category, and you'd also have potential privacy issues. As, I might add, would Netline.

work911,

You do not understand how this would work. I have been online many years and understand the privacy issues.

Subscribers will have the option to subscribe to my list.

Thank you for your two cents.

About #1 - We’re quite familiar with the tactic. With that being said, it’s something that we do not currently support with our partners for many reasons. While I understand that getting users to your site is difficult, that is also the reason why we pay you aggressively for your efforts. There’s no problem with you capturing your visitors for your own email newsletters and exclusively promoting us within the newsletters. With that being said, you cannot capture leads on top of our forms. You also cannot act in a 'switch and bait' manner to capture the visitor’s data on your side with the promise of giving them access to our offers.

#2 - It’s not a difficulty or development related issue as much as it’s a business decision. Our margins are extremely low and we’ve made a cognizant decision to pay you more up front for each lead you generate instead of a lower rate over a longer period. Your idea is definitely something we recognize and track closely… Perhaps this may change at a later date

About the domains, the decision to operate our network based on a sub-domain structure was made years ago and is something we follow closely. A simple solution to get around your request would be to leverage our XML catalog for implementation on your domains. You could call the catalog and embed offers directly into your site as you see fit. Share a few more details relating to how you plan on promoting us and we’ll be sure to return the favor with access to the catalog.

How about do as I do and forward the sub domain with a masked url, then change the header and footer in the co-brand site wizard.

The only troubles that I have3 is when I post a link to a specific offer on Facebook or Twitter they see the sub-domain. Iframes suck because the page sizes are different for each page and it looks funky to have a small page in a large Iframe, and scroll bars inside and page looks tacky also.

When people see an Iframe they tend not to trust the page. See what I've done at: http://www.BlueEgoTradeMages.com

But really, I would love to have access to Cname or A Records. It would make doing this so much easier. but if you need totally free hosting with no ads goto www.DoItFreeOnline.com
