Something is wrong is River City. I have sent over 1,000 people to view the various offers and so far ZIPPO sign-ups except for two people I contacted by phone and sent them a couple of links.
We are talking - NO sign ups for Website Magazine when at least 90% of everyone who got the offer has a website. I'm not talking
about REJECTS ... I talking NO NOTHING. And the same for other offers. Simply ZIP.
I uncerstand FREE is a bad word ... but these results are ridiculous. The only logical explanation is ADWARE or some PARASITE poaching the sign ups. If I got even ONE signup or a few rejects, I can live with it. But ZERO is simply not acceptable.
The traffic was from a whole variety of sources - email, link clicks, banner clicks. I have been doing marketing for 40 years and there simply is NO way you don't get ONE sign up in 1,000 for a FREE offer.
Hi Fred,
Laurie will be contacting you via email to figure out where your traffic is coming from and to explain the results you're seeing. We're looking into possible explanations and will update you shortly.
We looked over your traffic information and most of it is coming from sites that pay users to click links. This is a problem both for you and your results and for us and our policies. We do not allow partners to incentivize your users by using programs that pay them to click on our subscription forms. Please discontinue those services immediately or we will have to terminate your account. Here is a link (http://www.revresponse.com/Terms) to our terms and conditions which states:
"Qualified Subscriptions/Leads must result from genuine user interest. Any method that artificially submitting completed forms is strictly prohibited. Such prohibited methods include, but are not limited to, repeated manual submissions, using robots for automated for submission/completion, third-party services that submit forms on your behalf, incentivized programs such as paid-to-click, paid-to-surf, autosurf, rewards, and click-exchange programs, or any deceptive software."
By using these programs you are sending users who are not targeted to a specific industry and do not have a genuine interest for the magazines. This explains why there is so much traffic and so little conversion. We also noticed that most of your vistors were on our site for less than 30 seconds. That data suggests that the vistors are just interested in getting paid for clicking links and have no real interest in receiving our offers.
Please discontinue these promotional methods.
FYI to all partners:
Please be aware that incentivizing leads to falsely high amount of traffic and breaks RevResponse policy. We reserve the right to terminate relationships with any partners who are found to promote our offers in this way.
There have been some questions regarding what we consider to be incentivizing. To clarify...
You are allowed to use PPC campaigns to generate signups, but you can not incentivize or pay the end user to sign up for a free magazine or visit the site we built for you. Using services that pay the an end user to click on the TradePub.com site we built for you is considered incentivizing. In this method, the end user is incentivized to click on the link because they get paid to click, not because they are interested in the offer.
